Deadline to Register Waqf Assets March 12

A delegation of experts will voluntarily tour districts, holding meetings to clear apprehensions and misconceptions within the community: Reports

HYDERABAD: With the deadline for registering Waqf properties on the Umeed portal extended till March 12, religious scholars and representatives of socio-religious organisations have resolved to intensify awareness campaigns across Telangana districts. The urgency stems from the likelihood of slowed activity during the Ramzan month in February.

A delegation of experts will voluntarily tour districts, holding meetings to clear apprehensions and misconceptions within the community. They also plan to establish registration facilitation centres at the district level to ensure pending Waqf properties are registered before the deadline.

A key consultative meeting was held on Sunday at Shahi Masjid, Public Garden, to deliberate on the action plan and make use of the extended timeline. The meeting was attended by prominent community representatives, office-bearers of organisations, and custodians of khanqahs (Sufi hospices).

Following deliberations, a resolution was adopted. Participants strongly pitched for convening an all-party meeting with Waqf Board authorities to enable political parties, institutions, and custodians to reach solutions through mutual consultation.

“The meeting also resolved that a joint press conference be held, in which office bearers of all parties and institutions would collectively appeal for comprehensive registration of mosques and Waqf properties. This will ensure the campaign is effective with active participation of community members at the district level,” said Dr Ahsan bin Mohammed Al-Hamoomi, Khatib and Imam of Shahi Masjid, who is actively involved in the registrations on the portal.
