DC Impact - Malkajgiri Municipal Officials Inspect Dangerous Rocks on Tuesday

Hyderabad: Following a report in Deccan Chronicle on the dangers posed by loose rocks in residential areas, officials from the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) on Tuesday inspected several hill areas and dangerous rock formations in Gauthamnagar and Mallikarjunnagar of Malkajgiri.
The report, titled “People living in rocky areas fear for safety”, was published on Monday and highlighted the concerns of residents living close to rocky hill slopes ahead of the monsoon season.
Additional commissioner C.N. Raghu Prasad and Deputy commissioner Zakiya Sultana, along with chief engineer Ashok Reddy, superintendent engineer Lakshman, deputy executive engineer Prashanti, Mallikarjunnagar Welfare Association president Venkataiah, resident T. Karunakar and others inspected the rocks. During the visit, officials examined the condition of the rocks and interacted with local residents.
The officials assured the residents that immediate steps would be taken to clean and sanitise the entire area. They said rocks identified as risky and unstable would be removed to prevent accidents during heavy rains and strong winds.
Officials also announced plans to redevelop the hill areas into rock parks after the safety works are completed. Residents welcomed the move and expressed hope that the long-pending issue would finally be addressed.
