WARANGAL: A dairy farmer staged a unique protest against local Congress MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao after his buffalo shed was demolished. The farmer, along with his wife, brought their buffaloes to the MLA’s camp office and let them inside, creating a stir in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
The farmer, Kurakula Odelu, and his wife Lalitha from Bhupalpally town alleged that the shed they had built near their house for their buffaloes was demolished by municipal officials under pressure from the MLA and his supporters. Having lost their shed and means of livelihood, they decided to protest at the MLA’s camp office and demanded justice. They vowed not to leave the premises until the demolished shed was rebuilt.
Odelu and his family sat at the MLA’s camp office, questioning the authorities about where they were expected to keep their buffaloes and how they would survive without shelter. “Is this the reward we get for voting for the MLA without taking a single rupee?” they asked.
Upon receiving information about the protest, Circle Inspector Naresh Kumar and his team rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the family. When Odelu attempted to die by suicide by consuming pesticide during the protest, police intervened and stopped him. They assured the family that an inquiry would be conducted and action would be taken against any officials found guilty.
The sudden presence of buffaloes inside the MLA’s office created confusion and chaos among party leaders and workers. Police and party members eventually guided the animals out of the premises.
Meanwhile, municipal officials clarified that the couple had been served a notice a month ago, asking them to produce ownership documents for the land where the shed stood, as a new CCR road was being constructed in the area. Since the couple failed to submit the required documents, the shed was demolished in the presence of police officials. However, a video of the buffaloes entering the MLA's camp office went viral on social media.
