Dad Plots to Kill Two Minor Children for 20 Guntas of Land

Villagers expressed immense relief, noting that if the hired man's last-minute change of heart had not happened, a terrible tragedy would have struck the village.

Warangal: In a suspected case of parental betrayal, a man has been arrested for allegedly plotting to murder his minor sons to reclaim a small parcel of land.

The chilling conspiracy, which involved use of poisoning biscuits, was unearthed in Pottigubba Thanda of Raghunathpally mandal in Jangaon district, police said.

According to the police, the accused, Banoth Srinivas, 35, married his first wife, Anita, in 2016 and the couple had two sons (both below 10-years). However, following domestic disputes, Srinivas married a second woman, Mudavath Mamata.

The bone of contention was a 20-gunta land parcel registered in the names of his two sons from the first marriage. “Consumed by greed and encouraged by his second wife, Srinivas allegedly decided to eliminate the children to bring the property back under his control,” the cops investigating the case stated.

The couple allegedly hatched a sinister plan to feed the children some biscuits laced with poison. To execute the deed, they approached a local villager and offered a ‘supari’ (contract sum) to carry out the murders.

While the hired individual initially agreed to do this, he was later overcome by guilt and fear. Fearing the consequences of such a heinous act, he confessed the entire plot to the villagers.

Shocked by the revelation, the villagers alerted the police. The Raghunathapally police arrested Srinivas along with his second wife, Mamata. The duo was produced before a Jangaon court, which remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody.
