Telangana: Dad Dumps Son’s Body in River to Cover Up Electrocution Death

Sirpur (T) sub-inspector Kamalakar confirmed that cases have been registered against Chiranjeevi and Cheliram for trying to destroy evidence and mislead the investigation

Adilabad: In a shocking incident, a father was arrested for allegedly dumping the body of his 19-year-old son, Jayender, into the Penganga River to cover up his accidental electrocution in Tonkini village of Sirpur (T) mandal.

According to police, Jayender died on April 9 after accidentally coming into contact with a live electric wire set up by his father, Chiranjeevi, has an illegal fence to protect standing crops from wild boars. Fearing blame and police action, Chiranjeevi, with the help of a neighbouring farmer, Cheliram, disposed of the body in the river and falsely reported his son missing the next day.

Villagers later discovered Jayender's body along the riverbank. Suspicious electrocution marks prompted police to launch an investigation. Under questioning, Chiranjeevi confessed to setting up the electric trap and dumping the body to avoid legal consequences.

Sirpur (T) sub-inspector Kamalakar confirmed that cases have been registered against Chiranjeevi and Cheliram for trying to destroy evidence and mislead the investigation.

Police noted that poachers and farmers often erect illegal electric fencing near fields and water bodies during summer to ward off wild animals, posing a serious danger to both humans and wildlife.
