Cyberabad Police Warn of Chinese Manja
53 cases booked; Miyapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally and Gachibowli flagged as high-risk zones

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have asked residents to avoid Chinese or nylon manja, warning that the glass-coated kite string has become “death traps” for commuters and birds. In an advisory posted on X, the police said the sale, storage or use of Chinese or nylon manja was an offence and said that 53 cases have been booked so far this year.
Police flagged Miyapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally and Gachibowli as higher-risk areas and urged two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and ride at moderate speeds as safety measures to avoid danger from the banned manja. The post also pointed to injuries to birds and stray animals caused by discarded thread, and appealed to kite flyers to use only cotton thread. The police requested enthusiasts to use use only cotton thread to fly kites.
