The notification, issued under Section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968, mandates that all wine shops, toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants remain closed on April 2 from 10 am to 10 pm. Bars operating in star hotels and registered clubs are exempted.

Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh said the decision was taken in the interest of maintaining law and order during the festival. With large gatherings, processions and temple visits expected, precautionary measures are being enforced.

Officials warned that strict enforcement will follow, and violations will attract legal action under relevant provisions of the Excise Act.
