Cyberabad Police Nabs Chef For Possessing Narcotics Worth Rs.3.05 Cr

Three more accused, Salim, Raju and Ganpath are absconding in the case: Police

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police here on Friday arrested a drug peddler Vikas Sohu near Raikal toll gate on national highway (NH)-44 of Shadnagar police station limits.

One kg of ganja, 1.5 kg heroin, 2.8kg poppy straw, Rs.89,700 net cash, digital weighing machine, and three smartphones, all worth over Rs.3.05 crore was seized from the possession of the arrested person, said Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty at a press conference.

According to Avinash Mohanty, Vikas Sohu, 26, a native of Rajasthan, joined as a chef at a dhaba at Raikal toll gate in 2019. The dhaba owner Sanju Bhai has a habit of smoking ganja, and if anyone asks for the substance, he would sell it to them at a higher price.

He used to buy ganja from Salim of Dhoolpet and sell it to other State drivers, and pedestrians visiting dhaba.

In 2022, both Vikas Sohu and Sanju Bhai were arrested by Jadcherla police for selling ganja near Jadcherla bus stand. After their release, they started selling ganja. Following the death of Sanju Bhai due to illness last month, Vikas continued to sell these substances.

Last week, Vikas purchased 1.5 kg of heroin, 750 grams of opium, 3.5 kg of poppy straw from a drug supplier Ganpath, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, and 1.5 kg of ganja from Raju of Jalpally in Maheshwaram. He sold a part of the substance, earning Rs.89,700 while the remaining with him.

On credible information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT) Shamshabad and Shadnagar police apprehended him apart from seizing 1.5 kg of heroin worth Rs.3.05 crore in international market. All the three accused - Salim, Raju and Ganpath are absconding.

The police requested the people to share any information related to drug suppliers through dial 100 or through Cyberabad WhatsApp number 9490617444. Management of Educational institutions are also requested to keep an eye on student’s activities, if any information related to narcotics and inform police immediately and assured that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
