Cyberabad Police Launch Operation Muskan-12 To Rescue Missing, Exploited Children

The police have constituted seven special teams, each comprising a sub-inspector, five constables, including a woman, to identify, rescue and rehabilitate children found in vulnerable situations.

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police launched Operation Muskan-12 on Friday, a month-long initiative aimed at tracing missing children and rescuing those forced into seeking alms, rag-picking, child labour, trafficking and bonded labour.

The police have constituted seven special teams, each comprising a sub-inspector, five constables, including a woman, to identify, rescue and rehabilitate children found in vulnerable situations.

The teams will work in coordination with officials from the women and child safety wing, child welfare committees, labour department, district child protection units and healthcare authorities.

Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the operation, which will continue till July 31.

Cyberabad women’s safety wing DCP K. Srujana said the teams would use the facial recognition application Darpan to identify missing and unidentified children who have been separated from their families. She will supervise the operation throughout the month.

Police said they have identified hotspots based on previous cases where children were found engaged in child labour or other forms of exploitation. The rescue teams will focus on these locations while ensuring rehabilitation through coordination with stakeholder departments.
