Cyberabad Police Examine Feasibility Of One-Way Traffic In IT Corridor
The team inspected traffic conditions around Biodiversity Junction, IKEA, T-Works, Qualcomm and Dallas Centre Road.
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh has initiated steps to introduce a one-way traffic system in parts of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits to ease growing congestion, particularly during peak hours in the HITEC City and Biodiversity Corridor areas.
Dr Ramesh, along with joint commissioner of police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh, DCP (Traffic-I), additional DCPs (Traffic-I and Traffic Administration), traffic police officials, RTC representatives and the CEO of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), conducted a field inspection to assess the feasibility of the proposal.
The team inspected traffic conditions around Biodiversity Junction, IKEA, T-Works, Qualcomm and Dallas Centre Road. The proposed one-way corridor covers Biodiversity Junction, Mindspace Rotary, Times Square Road, Knowledge City Road, Qualcomm and Dallas Centre Road.
During the inspection, officials reviewed traffic flow patterns, road conditions and major traffic conflict points along the stretch to identify measures to ease congestion, minimise traffic conflicts and facilitate smoother vehicular movement.
Dr Ramesh directed the concerned officials to prepare a detailed report backed by a comprehensive traffic flow study, identifying bottlenecks and conflict points, along with supporting visual documentation.
He also asked officials to conduct a block-wise assessment of buildings contributing to traffic congestion. The exercise will cover the estimated traffic impact of each building, the number of vehicles generated, availability of parking facilities and their respective parking capacities.
The proposed initiative aims to streamline traffic movement around T-Hub, IKEA, Knowledge City, Qualcomm and Biodiversity Junction.
The commissioner clarified that the proposal was still at a preliminary stage. A final decision on the implementation of the one-way system, including alternative routes and other traffic arrangements, would be taken only after a comprehensive study.
