Cyberabad EOW Arrests AV Infracon Director For Ponzi Scheme

The Cyberabad police have urged the public to verify firms with GHMC, HMDA, RERA, or DTCP before investing.

Hyderabad:The Economic Offences Wing of the Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested AV Infracon director Thimmiri Samuel at his residence in Banjara Hills for his involvement in a large-scale cheating case involving fake investment and buyback schemes.

Along with managing director Gogula Lakshmi Vijaya Kumar, who was arrested on June 25 this year, Samuel allegedly lured over 150 victims into depositing `20–₹25 crore by promising high returns through bogus investment, pre-launch, and buyback schemes floated in the name of AV Infracon Pvt. Ltd. and AV Organo Farms Pvt. Ltd.

The duo falsely claimed land ownership, executed MoUs, agreements, and sale deeds to give an impression of legality, but neither returned the deposits nor registered the plots, EOW officials said in a press release.

The scam involved three schemes — an investment scheme, where an investor investing Rs 10 lakh would be promised a 50 per cent profit after one year; buyback scheme, where land registered to depositors would be repurchased with a 50 per cent gain, and a pre-launch scheme, where 2BHK flats in gated projects were promised at throwaway prices with high returns.

Projects were floated in Morigi (Sangareddy), Komshetpally (Vikarabad), Pembarthy (Jangaon), Kondapur (Ghatkesar), Nagaram (Keesara), Chowdargudem, and Narapally (Medchal-Malkajgiri). The investigation is ongoing to trace diverted funds and recover investors’ money.

A case was registered under FIR No. 27/2025, under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the BNS, and Section 5 of the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act, 1999. The Cyberabad police have urged the public to verify firms with GHMC, HMDA, RERA, or DTCP before investing.
