Cyberabad Civic Body Demolishes Nine Allegedly Illegal Structures
The demolitions were carried out at LIG, 532, 7th Phase, KPHB. All the nine structures demolished were built on plots of less than 80 square yards.
Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation on Monday demolished nine allegedly illegal structures on Monday, two days after the collapse of an illegal building claimed two lives at Gachibowli. This is apart from the continuing demolition of a building at Anjaiahnagar, located adjacent to the collapsed structure.
The demolitions were carried out at LIG, 532, 7th Phase, KPHB. All the nine structures demolished were built on plots of less than 80 square yards. The CMC said it had identified a total of 38 unauthorised under-construction buildings for action. Of these, nine were demolished on Monday, one was seized and notices were served to the owners of 28 other structures.
The enforcement action was primarily focused on plots below 75 square yards in size including the under-construction buildings where the construction exceeded seven metres in height. Action has also been initiated on plots bigger than 75 square yards were buildings were coming up without permission, irrespective of the height.
Cases were being identified through citizen complaints as well as field inspections," a CMC official told Deccan Chronicle.
Meanwhile, the CMC leadership at a meeting on Monday directed town planning wing officials asked to identify illegal structures. It could not be immediately ascertained if the corporation had taken action on any officials responsible for the illegal buildings springing up.
So far, the corporation has only suspended a town planning building officer (TPBO) for the Anjaiahnagar building collapse; no action has been announced against any other staff.
CMC commissioner G. Srijana, earlier speaking to media, said that the corporation would inspect all suspect buildings in collaboration with HYDRAA and demolish them if they were found to be built in contravention of norms.
