Hyderabad:A live CubeSat tracking demonstration and outreach sessions on space technology, healthcare and defence applications drew school students’ attention on the second day of the 5th IEEE Wireless, Antenna and Microwave Symposium (WAMS-2026) at a college in Narsapur.
A the demonstration, organised with support from Dhruva Space, gave students and participants an opportunity to observe satellite tracking and learn about the basics of satellite communication and space technology.
The demonstration was part of an outreach programme conducted under IEEE special interest group on humanitarian technology (SIGHT) and committee on promoting equality (COPE), led by Dr Vedula Sameer Chakravarthy, Dr Jayasree Das and Dr Satish Rama Chowdary.
Through presentations and interactive sessions, students were introduced to applications of space technology, satellite systems, healthcare innovations, defence technologies and emerging developments in education. Organisers said the programme aimed to encourage scientific curiosity and interest in science and engineering among school students.
The symposium also hosted AP-S Chapter Chair meetings, student design contest activities, programmes for PhD and MTech scholars, and networking sessions under Women in Engineering (WiE) and Young Professionals (YP). Student recognition and service awards were presented later in the day.
The technical programme featured eight special sessions and four invited talks by experts from India and abroad. Discussions focused on areas such as 5G and 6G communications, Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces, RF energy harvesting, biomedical sensing and imaging, advanced antenna systems and aerospace technologies.
