Corporate houses have been urged to use their corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to develop and revive smaller lakes, with officials stressing their role in flood control, ecological balance and meeting the city’s future water needs. The municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) and the sports departments made the appeal at CSR Round Table 2.0, held to increase corporate participation in lake development and rejuvenation Special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan and HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath addressed the meeting.
Ranganath outlined HYDRAA’s lake development works under its first and second phases through a presentation. He also said the government had approved the third phase of lake development works. Officials called for greater participation from corporates and citizens alongside government agencies to protect the city’s lakes for future generations. Ranganath said CSR support for smaller lakes could strengthen environmental protection and contribute to building a more sustainable Hyderabad.
