CSIR-NGRI, DGH Sign MoU To Strengthen Cooperation In Geoscientific Exploration

Hyderabad: The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), located in the city, and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), ministry of petroleum and natural gas, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in geoscientific exploration and subsurface resource assessment. The MoU was signed by DGH Director-General Dr Srikant Nagulapalli and NGRI Director Dr Prakash Kumar on Thursday.
Dr Nagulapalli said India’s growing energy requirements made it necessary to strengthen domestic exploration through modern technologies, scientific expertise and institutional collaboration. He said partnerships between scientific institutions and exploration agencies would help advance exploration activities and contribute to the country’s energy security.
Dr Kumar said the agreement would bring together the scientific expertise of NGRI and the exploration mandate of DGH. He highlighted the role of advanced geophysical technologies and integrated subsurface studies in exploration and resource assessment. The MoU will facilitate technical and scientific cooperation, knowledge exchange and collaborative studies focused on exploration, a statement said.
NEET-PG 2026: Hyderabad District Makes Elaborate Arrangements at Four Centres
Hyderabad: The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the NEET-PG 2026 examination to be held at four centres in the district on August 30, with 990 candidates expected to appear for the test. District collector Dr Priyanka Ala directed officials to ensure that arrangements were completed and guidelines issued by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) followed strictly.
Electronic devices, smart gadgets and other prohibited items will not be allowed inside the examination centres. Candidates have been advised to reach their respective centres by 7 am to avoid delays. Officials said web live-streaming from examination halls would be arranged and network jammers would be activated as part of the security measures. The collector also directed cyber police and cyber commandos to continuously monitor social media platforms to prevent the circulation of misinformation or content that could disrupt the examination.
The transport department and traffic police were asked to make arrangements to ensure candidates face no difficulty while travelling to the centres. The examination will be held from 9 am to 12.30 pm. The police have been directed to ensure tight security at all four centres. Special teams for frisking candidates, including female frisking personnel, and handheld metal detectors will be deployed.
At a coordination meeting held here on Thursday, Dr Ala reviewed arrangements relating to infrastructure, deployment of staff, sanitation, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, medical camps and other basic facilities at the examination centres. RDOs appointed as nodal officers for the centres were instructed to personally inspect the venues and ensure that all arrangements were completed on time. During the examination, RDOs will function as flying squads, while tehsildars will act as sitting squads.
GHMC Unveils QR Code for People To Avail Waste Disposal Services
Hyderabad: The GHMC has released a QR code for people to avail waste disposal services. Scanning the QR code would direct the user to a page where services are available. Only the disposal of mattress and furniture is free of cost if a person opts for the home pick-up service, a GHMC statement said. Home pick-up of e-waste would be charged based on the quantity. Self-disposal of e-waste would be free of cost. The website lists locations including some mobile stores were e-waste can be disposed of. The nearest disposal facility is displayed according to the address that the user enters.
On Saturday, as a part of GHMC’s Project Udvasana 29 temples joined hands for respectful disposal of old idols, religious photos, calendars and other sacred items. The drive will be held from 8.30 am to 11 am. Hanuman Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Khairatabad zone, Shivalayam in Rakshapuram and Venkateswara Swamy Devastanam in Rajendranagar zone were among the 29 temples.
