Critically ill Youth Taken To Crematorium As Family Struggles To Find Shelter, Treatment

Financial distress leaves family helpless; landlord refuses entry to rented house; officials intervene after visuals go viral

Warangal:A critically ill youth was taken to a crematorium in Rajanna Sircilla district while he was still alive after his family allegedly failed to secure medical treatment and shelter for him due to financial distress.

The incident came to light after visuals of the youth lying at the crematorium went viral on social media, prompting municipal officials to intervene on Friday night.

Municipal commissioner N. Lokesh and municipal chairman Pulkam Raju arranged to shift the youth, Marripalli Rakesh, to the Sircilla government gospital for treatment.

According to details, Rakesh’s family, whose mother is Amrutha, hails from Kishtampet village in Chandurthi mandal and has been living in a rented house in Vemulawada. Rakesh has reportedly been suffering from a liver-related ailment for some time.

As his condition deteriorated, family members took him to a hospital in Vemulawada. They alleged that the hospital authorities refused to provide treatment, saying his condition had become critical.

Unable to afford medical care, the family tried to take Rakesh back to their rented house. However, the landlord reportedly refused to allow him inside.

With no money for treatment and no place to take him, the family eventually took Rakesh to the Vemulawada Vaikunthadhamam (crematorium), even as he was alive.

After the visuals circulated on social media, municipal officials intervened and arranged for his transfer to the Sircilla government hospital, where medical care was arranged.

The incident has brought attention to the difficulties faced by economically disadvantaged families in accessing emergency healthcare and shelter. Local residents have urged the authorities to ensure that Rakesh receives treatment and that his family is provided necessary assistance.
