The CP released the Annual Crime Report–2025 at the Command Control Centre of the Police Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday: Reports

NIZAMABAD: Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya said crime control in Nizamabad has been achieved through the dedication of police personnel, coordination with government departments and cooperation from the public. He said the overall crime rate declined in 2025, with registered cases coming down to 8,624 from 8,983 last year. However, crimes against children increased from 120 to 168.

The CP released the Annual Crime Report–2025 at the Command Control Centre of the Police Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday. He said measures taken to prevent road accidents had yielded positive results. By identifying accident-prone black spots and implementing corrective steps, road accidents reduced from 857 in 2024 to 780 in 2025. Fatalities also fell sharply, from 353 deaths last year to 276 this year, while injuries declined significantly.

Highlighting enforcement against drunk driving, the CP said continuous checks had contributed to the reduction in accidents. While 8,410 drunk driving cases were registered in 2024, the number rose to 17,627 in 2025 due to intensified inspections. He warned that driving under the influence of alcohol endangers lives and would not be tolerated.

On drugs, Sai Chaitanya said the police would intensify their campaign in the coming year. Awareness programmes have already been conducted in colleges, villages and other locations, and these efforts will be expanded further.

He noted that as Nizamabad lies along major national highways, inter-State thieves are involved in thefts and robberies. To counter this, dynamic patrolling would be intensified. An action plan has also been prepared to install CCTV cameras in every village.

To ensure quick response during floods, a DDRF force is being raised within the police department. The CP also said greater awareness was being created about cyber crimes.

On New Year celebrations, he clarified that the police were not opposed to festivities but cautioned people against crossing limits. Drunk driving checks will be intensified, and those found violating norms will face fines exceeding `10,000 and imprisonment.

Additional DCP (Admin) G. Baswa Reddy, Nizamabad ACP L. Raja Venkat Reddy, Bodhan ACP P. Srinivas, Armoor ACP Venkateshwar Reddy, Traffic ACP Mastan Ali, Cyber Crime ACP Y. Venkateshwar Rao, Special Branch CI P. Srisailam, along with other officers and staff, were present.
