Crime against Women Registers Upward Trend in 2025 in Rachakonda

Hyderabad: The overall crime against women in Rachakonda Police Commissionerate has increased by four percent in 2025. The dowry murder, kidnapping, molestation and POCSO cases registered an upward trend last year.
Addressing the annual press meet here on Monday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said a total of 26,852 cases were reported, of which 21,056 cases were disposed of, achieving a 78 per cent disposal rate.
Around 6,188 cases of preventive arrests and 3734 cases of cyber crimes reported. Property crimes were reduced by 15 per cent due to visible policing, quick response, monitoring through suspect sheets and arrest of potential offenders.
As many as 4,121 NBWs were executed, achieving the status of a zero-NBW Commissionerate. The police secured 31 life convictions against 55 accused, and stood first in Telangana. They secured 20-year imprisonment convictions in 12 cases.
Around 17 accused were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in a single sensational murder case of Addagudur police station. The police disposed of 13,062 FIR cases and 44,742 e-petty cases through Lok Adalats.
Referring to overall crime against women, he said the crime against women increased by four per cent last year. Around 516 POCSO, 809 molestation, 479 kidnap and half a dozen dowry murder cases were reported in 2025 as against 392 POCSO, 561 molestation, 233 kidnap and three dowry murder cases respectively in 2024. In all, 326 cases were reported in 2025.
