Court Postpones Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case to July 6

The stampede occurred as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during the 'Pushpa 2' premiere screening at the theatre

Hyderabad: A local court here on Monday postponed the case related to stampede at Sandhya 70 MM theatre to July 6.

Popular film actor Allu Arjun, who is A11 in the case, did not appear today as he is believed to be attending to shooting in Mumbai. The advocate arguing the case on behalf of Arjun, filed a petition in the court seeking to give exemption to him from appearing personally and allow him to appear virtually.

Barring the film actor, all the accused named in the case appeared before the court. The police already filed a charge sheet against 23 people

A woman died and her eight-year-old son was grievously injured in the stampede. The Chikkadpally police registered an FIR and filed the chargesheet against 23 persons in the last week of December 2025. After taking cognisance of the chargesheet, the court issued summons to the accused including Arjun to appear before the court.

The theatre's owner, partners, manager, lower-balcony in-charge and gatekeeper were named as accused one to 10 in the chargesheet. The stampede occurred as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during the 'Pushpa 2' premiere screening at the theatre.

Following the incident, the city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theatre management under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally station, based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman's family. The actor was briefly arrested and was later released on bail.
