Court Issues NBW Against Former MLA Rohit in Cheque-Bouncing Case

The cheque bounced on being presented three times due to insufficient funds in his bank account, police said.

Hyderabad:Metropolitan Magistrate's Court Complex Judge Khushboo Upadhyay pronounced BRS former legislator P. ‘Pilot’ Rohith Reddy guilty in a Rs 34.23 lakh cheque bounce case. According to case paper, Rohith Reddy in 2014 used the funds of Intellidex Private Limited for personal gain and causing loss to the company.

As per the memorandum of understanding that was signed later, Rohith Reddy gave a cheque for Rs 34,23,000 to the company. The cheque bounced on being presented three times due to insufficient funds in his bank account, police said.

The company approached the court after Rohith Reddy did not respond to a legal notice. After the trial, Rohith Reddy was found guilty under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

A non-bailable warrant (NBW) was also issued against Rohith Reddy as he did not appear in court during the verdict. Police are expected to arrest the BRS former MLA and produce him in court, following which the court will pronounce the sentence.
