Court Denies Bail To Pallepaka Mohan

It may be recalled that a raid was conducted at Malnadu Restaurant, where teams intercepted a Scorpio vehicle based on credible intelligence.

Hyderabad:In a twist to the Malnadu Restaurant drug case, a local court has denied bail to Pallepaka Mohan, son of a senior police officer, while granting bail to his co-accused, Surya Annamaneni. Officials from the EAGLE Team said they would challenge the bail order in the High Court.

It may be recalled that a raid was conducted at Malnadu Restaurant, where teams intercepted a Scorpio vehicle based on credible intelligence. The search led to the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine, 3.2 grams of OG Weed (ganja), and 1.6 grams of ecstasy pills. The prosecution alleged that Surya facilitated the procurement and sale of narcotics to customers and that both accused played active roles in the drug network.

However, the court observed that no contraband was seized directly from Surya’s possession and that the quantities involved did not qualify as a 'commercial quantity' under the NDPS Act. The judge further noted that Surya had no prior criminal record, had been in judicial custody since 8 July 2025, and that the investigation was complete.

The court ordered Surya to execute a personal bond of ₹50,000 with two sureties, appear before the Cyberabad Narcotic Police Station twice a week for two months or until the chargesheet is filed, and refrain from influencing witnesses or committing similar offences.

TSNAB officials maintained that both accused committed a grave offence and that Mohan’s bail was rejected due to the seriousness of the allegations. Regarding Surya's bail, officials said they will approach the High Court seeking its cancellation.

Speaking about the procurement of drugs, the official said the accused received the drugs from Delhi. "The seized drugs are suspected to have arrived in Delhi from abroad. There are one to two lakh couriers each day entering the country through airlines, and the customs department should take stricter measures to scrutinize the parcels or couriers and come up with an action plan."
