Counter-Flow Bus Lanes to Corporate Commute Plans: Cyberabad Gears Up for 3-Day Transit Overhaul Drive

Cyberabad plans a three-day drive to ease traffic and improve public transport.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cyberabad Police and Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) will jointly organise a three-day initiative, ‘Cyberabad Moves 2026’, from November 26 to 28 to address growing traffic congestion and improve public transport connectivity in the Cyberabad region.

Unveiling the initiative on Friday, officials said expanding roads and constructing flyovers alone would not solve traffic problems. Instead, the focus would be on reducing dependence on private vehicles by encouraging commuters, particularly IT employees, to shift to public transport.

The three-day programme will bring together citizens, students, corporate representatives, urban planners, transport agencies and mobility experts through exhibitions, knowledge sessions and a mobility innovation challenge to develop practical solutions to urban transport problems.

Speaking to the media, the officials said discussions would focus on improving bus connectivity, redesigning junctions, developing pedestrian-friendly streets, ensuring safer school transportation and promoting sustainable mobility. Innovative bus priority systems, including the possibility of operating dedicated bus lanes against the direction of peak traffic flow, are also being examined.

The initiative will also explore corporate commute management programmes to encourage employees to use buses and Metro services instead of private vehicles. An innovation challenge will invite students, professionals and citizens to suggest solutions to mobility challenges. The proposals emerging from the programme would be considered for implementation to improve commuting conditions across Cyberabad, an officer said.
