10k bales of cotton gutted in fire mishap
Hyderabad: A fire broke out at a private godown in Muneerabad, under Medchal police limits, on Saturday, destroying around 10,000 bales of cotton. The fire is still raging and may not be fully controlled until Sunday, fed by the cotton in the godown.
According to the fire officials the fire started at approximately 1.30 pm. The godown's walls too collapsed due to the intense flames. There were no casualties. Fire teams from Shamirpet, Jeedimetla, Cherlapally, Sanathnagar, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad and Ramayanpet divisions were dispatched to the spot.
The fire has resulted in heavy losses for the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) since the cotton was stocked and to be delivered to Central
Warehousing Corporation. District fire officer (DFO) for Medchal-Malkajgiri Jayakrishna and ADFO Dhanunjay have been monitoring the firefighting operations. Medchal police initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire, which remains unknown.
