Corporate Style Health Care at Govt Hospitals: Komatireddy

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reaffirms the state’s commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare during Rs 23.75 crore facility inauguration.

Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced on Saturday that the state government is dedicated to making corporate-level healthcare services accessible to poor communities. During the inauguration of a new Critical Care Unit at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nalgonda — developed at a cost of Rs 23.75 crore — the minister emphasised that healthcare remains a top priority in the government's agenda.

Minister Venkat Reddy highlighted several initiatives aimed at elevating the quality of healthcare facilities across the state. "We are focused on improving the infrastructure in government hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHCs). In fact, we plan to equip PHCs with the necessary medical facilities within one year," he said. He also noted that advanced liver and kidney transplantation facilities are available at Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals in Hyderabad.

The minister pointed out that, after Gandhi and Niloufer hospitals, GGH Nalgonda now reports the highest number of deliveries in Hyderabad. Additionally, enhanced facilities have been developed in remote areas of the Devarakonda revenue division to ensure that tribal communities receive essential medical care.

Venkat Reddy recalled that Nalgonda’s healthcare services have seen a marked transformation following the conversion of the district hospital into a Government General Hospital, bolstered by the establishment of a Government Medical College. He hinted at the potential launch of three additional courses at the college, which would further strengthen local medical education and services.

The minister also reminded the public of the recent enhancements in the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme, where the treatment coverage has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The state government has further streamlined patient support by issuing Letters of Credit (LoCs) within 24 hours of application submission for needy patients.

District Medical Health Officer Putla Srinivas provided further details on the newly inaugurated unit, noting that the 50-bed Critical Care Unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art dialysis unit, advanced monitoring machines, and other critical care medical equipment.
