Cops Rescue 7 Trapped In Nallakunta House Fire
Officials said all seven rescued labourers were from Bihar. The fire is believed to have started in the house of an elderly couple on the first floor.

Hyderabad: Nallakunta police rescued seven persons who were trapped in a fire that engulfed a three‑storey house in Waddarbasti, Nallakunta, on Saturday.
The blaze broke out at 8.20 am on the second floor of the building. Police teams that reached the spot first secured a rope to the third floor. A constable climbed to the terrace from the rear side and helped the trapped labourers climb down safely before fire tenders arrived, officials said.
“We received information from locals. The labourers were trapped as the small building had only a single entry. With the fire raging on the first floor, there was no way to climb down, so we immediately decided to rescue them,” Nallakunta station house officer K. Maruthi Prasad told Deccan Chronicle.
He explained that constables gained access to the third floor through an adjacent building, tied a rope to the terrace pillar, and guided the labourers down. None suffered serious injuries, except minor scratches while climbing. They were later treated as outpatients at a nearby hospital.
Officials said all seven rescued labourers were from Bihar. The fire is believed to have started in the house of an elderly couple on the first floor. Shahmeem Begum, 65, said her grandson Md. Junaid had placed a water heater on the bed and accidentally switched it on, gutting the room. She, her husband Md. Hassan, and Junaid managed to climb down safely and alerted neighbours, who called the police.
Later in the afternoon, the rescued labourers visited the police station to thank the team for saving their lives.
“Nallakunta police’s rescue operation saved seven lives. We appreciate the quick decision taken by the team,” said M. Balaswamy, DCP East Zone.
