Cops Intensify Probe on IAS Officer in Custom Rice Milling Scam
Varni police intensified their investigation into a major custom milling rice scam involving two civil supplies officials and newly appointed IAS officer B. Chandrasekhar.

Nizamabad:Varni police intensified their investigation into a major custom milling rice scam involving two civil supplies officials and newly appointed IAS officer B. Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar, who earlier served as additional collector in Nizamabad district and is currently posted in Sangareddy, is among those named in the case.
The case involves rice mills reportedly owned by the family members of former BRS MLA Mohammed Shakil Aamer in the Bodhan area of Nizamabad district. These mills allegedly defaulted in returning custom milled rice (CMR) to government agencies. The alleged irregularities were reportedly facilitated with the support of then additional collector Chandrasekhar, then district supply officer Chandra Prakash (currently under suspension), and deputy tahsildar Raju.
V.R. Kishore, a rice miller from the Varni area, claimed he was wrongly implicated in the scam. “My signature was forged by corrupt officials to benefit others,” he alleged. After receiving no response from officials, Kishore approached the Telangana High Court.
Following court directives, Varni police registered a case against the civil supplies officials, including Chandrasekhar. On Tuesday, police recorded Kishore's statement and asked him to appear again on April 17 for further inquiry.
The inclusion of IAS officer B. Chandrasekhar’s name in the case has triggered political and administrative ripples across the state, especially as he was recently conferred the IAS rank.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Nizamabad commissioner of police P. Sai Chaitanya confirmed that a case had been registered and the investigation is underway. “We are carefully verifying all the details related to the CMR scam,” he said.
Efforts to contact Sangareddy additional collector (Local Bodies) B. Chandrasekhar for comment were unsuccessful.
