Cops Action Plans 2026: New SIT, Anti-Drug Teams, AI Generated Software To Ease Traffic

Hyderabad: Apart from the cybercrime menace, the city police have chalked out action plans for 2026 with unique strategies to curb traffic and drug abuse in the twin city.

“To ease the traffic flow we will form a new ‘traffic management committee’ that will be using AI generated software to control the traffic and see that the roads are free for commuters,” city police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said.

“We have conducted research and found that 15 per cent of commuters have spent 15 hours travelling to their destinations on a daily basis”, Sajjanar said.

“The AI generated software will be used at signals and most importantly to maintain vehicular distance our technical teams are working on this aspect. Very soon we will be using AI that will not only ease traffic but also catch, penalise challan and prosecute the traffic violators, to ensure safety and security of the citizens, he added.

To prevent drug abuse, the police will be enhancing H-NEW teams, he said.

“In the coming year we will be forming anti drug teams, SIT teams, exclusively one team will gather information on criminals involved in NDPS drugs, that is right from the consumer, peddler, suppliers, habitual peddlers and report to the action team to arrest and prosecute the culprits, file strong sheets as per the law to increase the conviction rate”, the commissioner said.

In each seven zones, an SIT and anti drug team will be posted led by a DCP rank officer, he said. “I have received several complaints from citizens who ask the milk is sold for RS 60 per litre and Rs 160 per litre, which milk is safe to drink. The coming year we will be forming an exclusive team to check the fat content and check every company selling milk in the twin city. If adulteration is found we will take stern action as per the law”, commissioner added.
