Constable Suspended For Harassing Minor Girl
According to police, Satyanarayana followed a school girl on his motorcycle while wearing a mask and misbehaved with her.
NALGONDA: Superintendent of police Sharath Chandra Pawar on Monday ordered the suspension of a constable who was arrested and sent on remand in a Pocso case.
Following a complaint, Nalgonda Town-I police registered a case against constable N. Satyanarayana, attached to Gurrampode police station, under the Pocso Act on July 17. He was arrested for misbehaving with a minor girl.
According to police, Satyanarayana followed a school girl on his motorcycle while wearing a mask and misbehaved with her. After receiving the complaint, police examined CCTV footage in the area and identified him based on the motorcycle number. Nalgonda Town-I police presented Satyanarayana before the Pocso Special Court, which sent him to judicial remand. The incident came to light after his suspension.
Fast Track court sentences man in Pocso case
HYDERABAD: Medak Fast Track Special Court for POCSO cases sentenced 21-year-old Chakali Praveen to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for sexually assaulting a minor girl. Delivering the verdict, Judge R.M. Subhavalli held the accused guilty based on convincing physical and testimonial evidence.
Officials said the case was registered in 2020 at Haveli Ghanpur police station. The victim, a 17-year-old Intermediate student, was repeatedly trespassed upon, threatened and sexually assaulted by Praveen, resulting in her pregnancy. The ordeal came to light when her family noticed physical changes and questioned her, after which the victim revealed the assaults.
Following the complaint filed in 2020 by then ASI D. Vittal, former Medak Rural CI Palavelli led a thorough investigation and submitted the chargesheet. During the trial, Bharosa Legal Advisor Shwetha assisted the victim, while Public Prosecutor Balayya presented decisive arguments for the prosecution.
Commending the police and legal team for their efforts, Medak district SP D.V. Srinivasa Rao said strict legal action would continue against anyone targeting women and children. He urged the public to report offences against minors immediately via Dial-100, Dial-112 or the 1098 Child Helpline.
Delivery executive dies in road accident
HYDERABAD: A 19-year-old delivery executive died after his electric bike was hit by a water tractor near on the Puppalaguda Pipeline Road under Narsingi police limits on Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Rahmat Ansari, 19, a resident of Filkhana in Golconda Kila.
According to Narsingi police, Rahmat was delivering an order when a water tractor collided with his bike. The impact left him with severe injuries. Local residents rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On receiving information, Narsingi police inspected the accident site and shifted the body to a government hospital for post-mortem. Police seized the tractor involved in the accident and registered a case against its driver. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision. Further investigation is in progress.
