Constable Recruitment Age Limit Hiked To 32

The revised norms apply to direct recruitment to the Police, Fire Services, Prisons and Special Protection Force (SPF), conducted by the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board.

HYDERABAD: In a major relief to job aspirants, the state government has raised the upper age limit for Constable recruitment from 29 to 32 years, bringing it on par with the age limit for Sub-Inspector (SI) posts. In its order, the government noted the disparity in the upper age limits prescribed for SI and Constable posts. While the upper age limit for SIs was 32 years, it was 29 years for Constables. After examining the matter, the government decided to remove the disparity and enhance the upper age limit for Constable and equivalent posts by three years. With this, the total age relaxation for these posts now stands at 10 years.
The revised norms apply to direct recruitment to the Police, Fire Services, Prisons and Special Protection Force (SPF), conducted by the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board. However, the relaxation does not apply to Police Constable (Driver) posts.

Officials said the decision would ensure uniformity in the eligibility criteria for Constable and SI recruitment.
