Congress Wins 10 of 14 Municipalities in Karimnagar
In Husnabad, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar led the party to victory in 16 of the 20 wards.

Karimnagar: The Congress secured control of 10 of the 14 municipalities in the erstwhile Karimnagar district in the municipal elections, consolidating its position across key urban local bodies.
In Dharmapuri, the party won all 15 wards, marking a complete sweep in the municipality. Welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar led the campaign in the segment. Party leaders attributed the result to the state government’s welfare schemes, including subsidised rice, new ration cards and the Indiramma Housing project.
In Manthani, Congress won 10 of the 13 wards under the leadership of IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. In Husnabad, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar led the party to victory in 16 of the 20 wards.
The party also secured 27 of the 36 wards in Peddapalli, 16 of 30 in Huzurabad and 12 of 15 in Sultanabad. Choppadandi, Korutla and Vemulawada also returned Congress majorities.
The BRS retained Sircilla, winning 27 of the 39 wards. The segment was led by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.
Hung verdicts were recorded in Metpalli, Raikal and Jammikunta. In Jammikunta, the BRS won 12 wards and Congress 10, while four BJP members and four Independents/others hold the balance.
At some counting centres, police intervened following reported scuffles between party leaders amid efforts to secure support from Independent candidates. The election of mayors and chairpersons is scheduled for February 16, with attention now focused on municipalities that returned fractured mandates.
