Congress resumed SLBC works with wrong tech: BRS leader

Jagadish Reddy further claimed that there was a conspiracy orchestrated by “Andhra colonial rulers” during the era of a united Andhra Pradesh, aimed at pushing through the SLBC tunnel works without proper measures

Nalgonda: Former minister and BRS leader G. Jagadish Reddy on Thursday alleged that the accident at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel was caused by the Congress government’s decision to resume work using unsuitable technology.

Speaking to the media, Jagadish Reddy explained that major water seepage prevented the previous BRS government from proceeding with tunnel digging. He noted that the BRS administration spent around ₹1.5 crore per month to pump out water, adding that experts found the technology employed for drilling the tunnel was not appropriate for the project.

Jagadish Reddy further claimed that there was a conspiracy orchestrated by “Andhra colonial rulers” during the era of a united Andhra Pradesh, aimed at pushing through the SLBC tunnel works without proper measures.

He also criticised the behaviour of ministers overseeing rescue operations at the site, suggesting that their conduct has drawn public ire. Citing recent comments by roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he said the public was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the state government’s handling of the incident.
