Congress protests LPG price hike with Vanta Varpu in Karimnagar

The protesters cooked food using firewood and demanded that Telangana’s MPs raise the issue of LPG and fuel price hikes and press for a rollback.

Karimnagar: Congress leaders staged a protest in Karimnagar on Monday against the ₹29 increase in LPG cylinder prices, holding a ‘Vanta Varpu’ programme at Indira Chowk.

The protesters cooked food using firewood and demanded that Telangana’s MPs raise the issue of LPG and fuel price hikes and press for a rollback. They referred to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s earlier remarks on a possible rise in fuel prices after recent Assembly elections.
District Congress Committee president and Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was imposing a financial burden on people through price increases. He questioned the government’s claims on economic performance, stating that LPG prices had risen significantly over the years.
Suda chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy criticised the Centre over the hike and asked why BJP leaders were not responding to the issue. He said the increase in LPG and fuel prices would have a cascading effect on essential commodities.
Urban Bank chairman Karra Rajashekar, along with Congress leaders Uppala Anjani Prasad, Mallikarj, Rajender, Anjanyulu Goud, Komatireddy Padmakar Reddy, Akula Narsaiah, Karre Pawani and Mulakala Kavitha, attended the protest.
