Congress Misleading BCs: Telangana BJP Chief

BJP vows 42% BC quota if elected

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday termed the Congress’ dharna in Delhi a complete flop and accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of indirectly admitting his government’s inability to implement the promised 42 per cent reservations for BCs.

Addressing party workers in Bhongir, Rao took a sharp dig at the Chief Minister’s statement during the protest that BC reservations would be enforced only after Rahul Gandhi became Prime Minister. He posed the question to the crowd whether Gandhi would ever assume that position, prompting a loud chorus of “No! No!” from attendees.
Rao alleged that the Congress protest was less about BC reservations and more about “Muslim reservation,” aimed at misleading the BC community. He assured the gathering that if voted to power in Telangana, the BJP would fully implement the 42 per cent reservation for the BC communities. He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a BC leader, and pointed to the constitutional status given to the BC Commission under the BJP-led central government, which also has 27 BC ministers.
He also criticised the Congress government’s handling of the Musi river pollution crisis, which has impacted farmers in Bhongir. He recalled Revanth Reddy’s birthday visit to the Yadagirigutta temple, where he had promised to clean the river, and said the Chief Minister had since ignored his commitment, calling it typical of the Congress’s tendency to forget its promises.
The meeting was preceded by a three-hour bike rally from Yadagirigutta to Bhongir by around 500 party workers, including women riders. Rao thanked the cadre for their enthusiastic participation and said the warm reception was a sign of the BJP’s growing strength ahead of the local body polls.
