Congress, Left Parties Take Out Protest Rally in Khammam Against CEC

Nalgonda: The Congress, CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML-New Democracy) and CPI(ML-Mass Line) on Thursday jointly organised a rally from Pavilion Ground to Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue in Khammam, demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
They alleged that Kumar acted as an agent of ruling BJP at the Centre. A large number of the people participated in the rally.
DCC president Nuthi Satyanaraya said the CEC, who has a responsibility to protect democracy in the country, was acting like an agent of the BJP. Kumar, he said, out the election authority as also the electronic voting machines under a shadow of suspicion. Kumar has no moral right to continue in the post CEC, he stressed.
Congress Khammam Urban president Nagalla Deepak Choudary said Congress members would stand in the forefront in the agitation for protection of democracy. CPI leader Bhagam Hemantha Rao alleged that the BJP government has been undercutting the reputation of Constitutional bodies. He said Gyanesh Kumar acted as a rubber stamp for the BJP.
