Congress Leaders Seek Strict Action in Mahesh Case
Mahesh told police that the accused questioned him about what he had told the MLA regarding him (Patti Kumar) and then set him on fire.
WARANGAL: Family members of Adepu Mahesh, Congress’ social media in-charge for the Wardhannapet Assembly constituency, who was murdered on Sunday, and Congress workers demanded held a protest near the MGM centre, demanding that the police register a case based on his dying declaration. The protesters demanded that the police arrest those responsible for Mahesh’s death and ensure they get stringent punishment.
Earlier in the day, following the postmortem examination on Monday, Mahesh's mortal remains were shifted from MGM Hospital to his native village when family members, relatives and Congress workers staged a protest near the MGM Centre.
Mahesh, a native of Kotilingala village in Geesukonda mandal of Warangal district, had told the police that he was attacked by Patti Kumar, a rowdy-sheeter from Warangal city. Police had said Mahesh was lured to a secluded area near the Kotilingala temple by an individual identified as Jannu Kumar. After they consumed liquor, an argument broke out between Mahesh and Patti Kumar.

Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju and Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy reached the spot and paid floral tributes to Mahesh. MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, State Corporation chairman Sirisilla Rajaiah, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Engala Venkat Ram Reddy, Ayub, and several Congress leaders also offered their condolences.
Later, MLA Naini Rajender Reddy met Mahesh's bereaved family members. He said Mahesh's dedication, commitment and contribution to the Congress Party, particularly through its social media wing, would always be remembered. He described Mahesh's death as an irreparable loss to the party.
Responding to the family's demands, Congress leaders assured them that they would take up the matter with the government and press for a comprehensive investigation to ensure strict legal action against those responsible for the incident.
