Congress Leaders Protest Over Action On Sonia, Rahul

The MP said the party would “not be intimidated by legal harassment” and vowed to continue its campaign against the BJP.

WARANGAL: Congress leaders staged a protest at the Ashoka Theatre Circle on Thursday, accusing the BJP-led Centre of misusing the Enforcement Directorate for “political vendetta” against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya and Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy led party workers in burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Gandhis were named in an ED chargesheet in the National Herald money-laundering case.

“How can it be money laundering if we invest in a newspaper managed by our own party?” Dr Kavya asked, calling the allegations “politically motivated” and linked to Rahul Gandhi’s rising popularity over issues such as BC reservations and Scheduled Caste sub-categorisation.

The MP said the party would “not be intimidated by legal harassment” and vowed to continue its campaign against the BJP. MLA Rajender Reddy echoed the charge of “diversionary politics” and demanded the Centre withdraw what he termed “baseless cases” against Congress leaders.
