Congress Failing BCs: BJP MP

Krishnaiah announced that he would convene an all-party meeting in Delhi later this month to gather opinions and suggestions.

Hyderabad:The state government has failed to appoint even one member from the Backward Classes (BC) community among the six information commissioners named so far, said BJP MP and BC Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah. He demanded that all three remaining posts be filled with representatives from the BC community.

Krishnaiah announced that he would convene an all-party meeting in Delhi later this month to gather opinions and suggestions. The inputs will be submitted to the central government for inclusion in the upcoming caste enumeration to be conducted alongside the national census in 2026.

In a statement, Krishnaiah accused the Congress government of making hollow claims while taking undue credit for the Centre’s decision to conduct caste-based enumeration. “Rahul Gandhi boasts of the so-called Telangana Model for caste census, and the Revanth Reddy government passed a Bill to raise BC reservations to 42 per cent in education, employment and politics. But in practice, BCs are being ignored across all sectors,” he alleged.

He alleged that the state government was attempting to evade its responsibility to implement 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local bodies by shifting the blame to the Centre. He also demanded the immediate release of the pending fee reimbursement amounts for students. “The state can clear the dues of 14 lakh students instead of settling the bill of a single contractor. But those in power seem more interested in pocketing 10 per cent commissions and paying off contractors while ignoring students,” he charged.
