HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of stalling the state’s development by focusing more on “Delhi trips” than on governance. He urged voters to give the BJP a chance to meet their aspirations, accusing both BRS and Congress of deceiving the public with unfulfilled promises.
Addressing a large gathering of party workers in Medak on Friday, Ramchander Rao called for full support to the BJP in the upcoming local body elections, claiming that the party alone remains committed to its promises and consistently works for public welfare. He said the BJP had built a strong grassroots network, reaching every part of the state, with over 40 lakh members enrolled.
He alleged that despite coming to power on the strength of six guarantees and over 400 promises, the Congress government had failed to address the needs of key sections, particularly farmers and students.
Ramchander Rao also alleged that the government was misleading the public on the proposed 42 per cent BC reservations, claiming that Congress intended to allocate 10 per cent of those seats to Muslims. He reiterated the BJP’s opposition to religion-based reservations and pointed to the last GHMC elections, where 35 of the 50 BC-reserved seats went to Muslims, allegedly depriving traditional BC communities like Yadavs and Gouds of their due.
Medak MP Raghunandan Rao announced that the next BJP meeting under Ramchander Rao’s chairmanship would also be held in Medak, with participation from the elected BJP Zilla Parishad chairman and ten sarpanches and MPTC members from each mandal.
Senior leaders, including BJP MLC C. Anji Reddy, district presidents Mallesh, B. Shankar, Godavari and Medak town president Prasad, were present. Earlier, party workers gave Ramchander Rao a grand welcome in Medak, marking his first visit to the district as the BJP chief, with a massive garland placed on him using a JCB during a celebratory procession.
