PCC chief says CM’s comments addressed political use of faith and cultural inclusivity
Hyderabad: Congress leaders strongly defended Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy following a wave of criticism from Opposition parties regarding his comments on Hindu deities. Ruling party leaders argued that Revanth Reddy's statements were intended to underscore regional and cultural inclusivity, directly challenging what they described as the selective political appropriation of revered figures.
PCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the Chief Minister's remarks were aimed strictly at the BJP's exploitation of faith. He clarified that while both deities were identical in sanctity to the Congress and were worshipped equally, the physical descriptions merely highlighted the socioeconomic symbolism. Goud accused the BJP of trying to ‘own’ Lord Rama to fetch votes in upcoming elections.
