Congress Completes 1000 Days Milestone in Telangana
The government highlighted how the state was transforming "from welfare to a pioneering world-class Telangana".
Hyderabad: Ahead of the Congress completing 1,000 days in power on September 1, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the government on Sunday reiterated its commitment to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Releasing a progress report to mark the event, the government highlighted how the state was transforming "from welfare to a pioneering world-class Telangana". The state's per capita income had increased to ₹4,18,931 in 2025-26, approximately 91 per cent higher than the national per capita income. “In a major achievement, Telangana surpassed Punjab to become the country's leader in paddy cultivation and production, setting a record by procuring 81.12 lakh metric tonnes of grain during the last Rabi season,” the report stated.
It said Telangana had achieved the top position in key sectors under the Business Reforms Action Plan. Investments worth ₹1.29 lakh crore were secured through TG-iPASS and agreements worth ₹5.75 lakh crore were signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit last year. It pointed to investments worth ₹92,281 crore in TSIIC land, paving the way for over 78,000 job opportunities. Separately, through the Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy, the government was targetting ₹73,360 crore investments and 3.5 lakh job opportunities.
The Congress government recalled how the free travel for women on RTC buses was a revolutionary step under Mahalakshmi scheme, one of the poll promises. Free electricity up to 200 units for over 53 lakh families under the Gruha Jyothi scheme and Domestic LPG cylinders provided for ₹500 to 43 lakh families, were other promises which were implemented. It pointed out that loans worth ₹60,487 crore were extended via bank linkages to 4.54 lakh women's groups, along with an interest subsidy of ₹1,900 crore.
The report noted that the government had waived farm loans up to ₹2 lakh, relieving over 25 lakh farming families from the mounting debt burden. Over ₹36,000 crore investment support was provided under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme, it said. Underscoring how the Congress government had ended years of waiting for ration cards for lakhs of beneficiaries, the report pointed out that over 15 lakh new ration cards were issued and food security provided to approximately 3.38 crore people.
The government also highlighted how lakhs of poor were fulfilling the dream of owning house as part of indiramma houses. It also recounted the government completing a comprehensive survey covering social, economic, educational, employment, political, and caste aspects to study the socio-economic status of different castes. Telangana also became the first state to implement SC sub-categorisation by classifying 59 SC community sub-castes into three distinct groups. The Legislature also approved Bills providing 42 per cent reservation for BC community members in education, employment and politics.
The report noted that Telangana had advanced from the 28th position to the 18th in the Performance Grading Index announced by the Centre, following what it called revolutionary reforms in education. “Young India Integrated Residential Schools are to be established in every constituency; 105 schools have been sanctioned,” the report said.
It also noted that over 72,000 government job appointments were made within the first 1,000 days of the Congress in power. In healthcare, the government increased the Rajiv Aarogyasri coverage limit from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. Work had begun on construction of a 2,000-bed Osmania General Hospital in Goshamahal at a cost of ₹2,700 crore. It noted work on the three Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) super-specialty hospitals in Sanathnagar, Alwal, and LB Nagar.
Following the success of the Praja Vani public grievance redressal programmes, the initiative is being extended to all MPDO offices to resolve public grievances locally within the mandal. It said the government had conducted 12,758 gram sabhas and 3,175 ward sabhas as part of the 99-day 'Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika programme earlier this year.
As part of improving land administration, the state government had introduced the Bhu-Bharati Act, the Bhu-Dhar card, and AI-based Bhu-Mitra services, the report noted. It said 3.76 lakh new pattadar passbooks had been issued. A Regional Ring Road ( RRR) spanning approximately 360 kilometres around Hyderabad is under progress, the report explained.
