Congress Calls to Safeguard Constitution to Protect Nation

Srihari called on activists to honour Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar

WARANGAL: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari urged Congress cadres to defend constitutional values and democratic principles at a day-long foundational training programme for party workers here on Saturday.

Addressing the session, organised by the Telangana Adivasi Congress at Haritha Kakatiya Hotel on the All India Congress Committee’s directive, Srihari called on activists to honour Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar. “Only if we protect the Constitution will it protect us,” he said, alleging the BJP-led Centre was “eroding constitutional safeguards and hurting marginalised communities.”

Citing reservations as a ladder that enabled people from disadvantaged backgrounds to become legislators and local-body leaders, Srihari accused the BJP of denying Ambedkar his due as a “global intellectual” because of caste prejudice. He also endorsed Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide “Jai Bapu Jai Bhim Jai Samvidhan” campaign to promote social justice.

The programme was attended by Mahbubabad MP Balram Naik; MLAs N. Ramchander Naik, B. Murali Naik and Donthi Madhav Reddy; DCC presidents Errabelli Swarna and Bharat Chander Reddy; AICC training convener Rahul Bale; and scores of Adivasi Congress leaders from the erstwhile Warangal district.
