Congress activists hurl tomatoes on BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy

Hyderabad: Congress workers hurled tomatoes at BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and other BRS leaders during grama sabha that was organized in Kamalapur village in Huzurabad Assembly constituency on Friday to receive applications to enroll for availing welfare schemes to be implemented from January 26.
Tension prevailed at the grama sabha when the Congress and BRS workers hurled chairs that were arranged for the convenience of villagers to submit applications hurled against each other. Sensing that the situation might go out of control, the police intervened and tried to pacify the two warring groups.
However, the two groups did not budge and continued to raise slogans against one and another. Enraged over Reddy’s remarks accusing the Congress government of failing to implement welfare schemes, a group of Congress workers hurled tomatoes and chairs on Reddy.
In response, Reddy asked, “Is this the Congress leaders’ behavior for questioning the State government’s failure to implement welfare schemes and failing to allot houses for the eligible candidates?” His gunmen and BRS leaders came to his rescue when tomatoes were hurled on him.
When the police tried to prevent them from hurling tomatoes and chairs, the Congress leaders took strong exception to Reddy’s remarks and asked him to mend his ways. The police later pacified the two groups and dispersed them from the premises.
