Congress Accords Top Priority to ST Members in Indiramma Houses, Says Ponguleti

Srinivas Reddy said the most-backward Chenchu community members have not owned permanent houses for decades

Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy would on Monday hand over sanction letters of Indiramma houses to Chenchus at Mannanur in the Achampet constituency.

On Sunday, Srinivas Reddy said that the Congress government had accorded top priority to Scheduled Tribes community in the allotment of Indiramma houses, with 13,000 units sanctioned for Chenchus and additional 9,000 houses in the ST reserved Assembly constituencies.

Srinivas Reddy said the most-backward Chenchu community members have not owned permanent houses for decades. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had suggested the construction of permanent houses in tribal areas. Following their suggestions, the government has sanctioned Indiramma houses to the Chenchus in tribal areas," the minister said.

As many as 13,266 houses under the Indiramma houses scheme are being sanctioned to 13,266 Chenchu families under the saturation method in 21 constituencies under the four Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) of Utnur, Bhadrachalam, Munnanur and Eturu Nagaram," Srinivas Reddy said.
