Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and ministers are expected to participate in the second phase of the Janahitha padayatra from August 23, at select locations
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that they had expressed their willingness to join the yatra in villages across erstwhile six districts.
The first phase of the padayatra from July 31 to August 4 covered one village each in the erstwhile Rangareddy, Medak, and Nizamabad districts.
The programme was temporarily halted on August 5 after the party leadership decided to camp in Delhi from August 5 to 7 to press the Centre for approval of the 42 per cent BC quota bills.
Goud announced that the second phase will cover the erstwhile districts of Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Adilabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar. The padayatra aims to connect with people, showcase the welfare schemes and development works undertaken by the Congress government over the last 20 months, and seek public support for the party in the upcoming local body elections. It also aims to mobilise Congress leaders and workers at all levels to prepare for the polls.
