Cong. Welfare Schemes to Uplift Poor Families: Ponguleti

He said the Congress government was focusing on welfare of the poor, women’s empowerment and support to farmers

Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said welfare schemes of the state government were aimed at the uplift of poor families.

Laying the foundation stone for a link road connecting Chinnakorukonda-Kistharam and Wyra-Nemali roads at Chinnakondi in Kallur mandal of Khammam district, he said the Congress government was focusing on welfare of the poor, women’s empowerment and support to farmers.

He said the government was implementing both poll promises and additional welfare measures, ensuring benefits reached beneficiaries directly. He cited free electricity up to 200 units for poor families, supply of fine rice to ration cardholders, issuance of new ration cards and the Indiramma housing scheme.

The minister said around 3,500 houses were sanctioned per Assembly constituency in the first phase under the Indiramma scheme, with another 2,000 to be taken up in the second phase.

Referring to farmers’ welfare, he said crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh had been waived. He added that Rythu Bharosa assistance for the monsoon season was being credited to farmers’ accounts and would be completed shortly. He said the government was procuring paddy and providing a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for fine variety.

He said programmes were being implemented to promote economic empowerment of women, with a target of enabling one crore women to become financially self-reliant.

Earlier, he inaugurated a high-level bridge on the Lokavaram-Penuballi road built at a cost of Rs 6.30 crore and laid the foundation stone for a stormwater drain at Ambedkar statue in Kallur, taken up at Rs 93 lakh.

District collector Diwakara T.S. and Sathupalle MLA Matta Ragamayi Dayanand were present.
