Hyderabad:The Congress on Saturday held a ‘satyagraha’ at Gandhi Bhavan against the Election Commission’s rejection of the Rajya Sabha nomination of AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. Party leaders, who staged the demonstration under Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sangathan, strongly condemned the Election Commission's decision to disqualify Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination on technical grounds, calling it a ‘blow to democracy.’
The Congress also accused the BJP-led Centre and the Prime Minister's Office of directly intervening to manipulate the electoral process.
The party leaders alleged that the BJP was attempting to ‘steal a seat’ in the Rajya Sabha by suppressing secular voices and weakening opposition forces. The demonstration was led by PCC chief B. Mahesh Kumar Goud.
