Cong hits back at Bandi’s comments about Gaddar

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay’s comments on balladeer Gaddar turned into a political slugfest with Congress activists burning his effigies at Gandhi Bhavan.

BJP hit back stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written a letter to Gaddar’s widow.

In his letter written on August 21, 2023 the PM had said, “I am deeply pained to learn about the demise of Shri Gummadi Vittal Rao Ji, widely known as 'Gaddar'. Heartfelt condolences to the family in this hour of intense grief. The themes of his poems and folk songs in Telugu reflected the challenges faced by the disadvantaged sections of the society. His creative works also provided encouragement to the people.”

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud in his response to the comments by Bandi Sanjay said, “The BJP has forgotten its ideology long back. Did he not know Gaddar’s ideology when he cuddled him? With a new state president set to be elected, Sanjay is frustrated that he would lose his importance. Is Eatla Rajendar, who had said that the naxal agenda is his agenda, not their MP? Did the BJP not ally with NTR’s party who had said that naxalites are patriots? How many who contested on the party ticket in 2024 have allegiance to its ideology?”

Sanjay’s comments are against the spirit of the Constitution. Gaddar is a stalwart despite the assertions of the BJP leaders. The party even aligned with leaders who had ordered firing on kar sevaks, he said.
