Congress ‘Fact-Finding’ Team Visits Jagadish Reddy’s Farmhouse
A Congress delegation visited former minister G. Jagadish Reddy’s farmhouse in Shamshabad and raised questions over his declared assets and land holdings.
A Congress delegation, on a 'fact-finding' mission regarding the properties of the BRS top brass, on Monday visited the farmhouse of former minister G. Jagadish Reddy in Shamshabad on Monday and claimed that the BRS leader’s assets had risen from `12 lakh in 2002 to include 50 acres of land.
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, heading the team, pointed to discrepancies in the assets claimed by Jagadish Reddy. “Jagadish Reddy is a very close associate of the 'Neo Nawab' KCR and holds land in Shamshabad, which has nothing to do with his constituency. How was he able to own this,” the MP asked.
Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that when Jagadish Reddy contested in 2009, he declared assets worth `12 lakh in his affidavit. He was able to generate enormous wealth within two decades, particularly after the BRS came to power, the Congress MP said. “While the family of four-time Suryapet Uppala Malsur continues to struggle to this day, and had to apply for the Indiramma housing scheme, Suryapet MLA Jagadish Reddy built a farmhouse spanning 50 acres in Shamshabad, across Survey No.s 162 and 223,” he pointed out and added, “I still wonder what did the people who actually led the Telangana movement achieve.”
Kiran Kumar Reddy demanded that the government conduct a survey of the land where Jagadish Reddy’s farmhouse was located, on the same lines of the survey carried out at the house of former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s farmhouse at Erravelli, take over illegally held assets and distribute it to the poor.
