Nizamabad Collector Seeks Accountability from BLOs, AEROs over SIR Delays

The Collector conducted a review meeting at the municipal corporation office on Tuesday with AEROs and BLO supervisors regarding the implementation of SIR and the draft electoral roll in the Nizamabad urban constituency

Nizamabad: District Election Officer and district Collector Ila Tripathi said that the preparatory process for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) should be carried out meticulously in every polling station jurisdiction in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

As there is a possibility of the municipal election notification being issued, she said that the final electoral roll must be prepared accurately without any scope for errors.

The Collector conducted a review meeting at the municipal corporation office on Tuesday with AEROs and BLO supervisors regarding the implementation of SIR and the draft electoral roll in the Nizamabad urban constituency.

She reviewed the progress of SIR implementation polling-station-wise and sought explanations from AEROs and BLO supervisors who were lagging behind in performance.

She said that officials must have a clear understanding of the rules and regulations of ECI and made it clear that definite progress must be achieved in the implementation of SIR across the 301 polling stations in the urban segment. Pointing out that the urban segment was lagging behind in SIR preparatory implementation, she called for a change in this situation.

The Collector directed that proper mapping with BLOs should be ensured for each polling station and that a thorough verification should be conducted so that the names of all eligible voters are included in the electoral roll.

She stated that she would conduct another review at the weekend to assess the progress of SIR implementation. She asserted that there should be no mistakes in the preparation of the electoral roll and that it must be prepared with complete transparency, without succumbing to pressure or inducements. She warned that if any complaints are received regarding the electoral roll, the concerned BLOs and supervisors would be held responsible.

Under no circumstances should bogus voters be included in the list, and at the same time, not a single eligible voter’s name should be omitted. She also instructed officials to pay special attention to newly merged areas and conduct meticulous field-level verification.
