Karimnagar:In a heartwarming event, the district officials officiated the marriage of an orphan woman on a grand ceremony as per Hindu tradition.
The event took place under the supervision of district collector Koya Sriharsha at Sri Venkateshwara Kalyana Mandapam in Peddapalli district on Wednesday.
The bride, Manasa, who lost her parents at a young age, has been residing at Thabita Child Care Centre, an orphanage in Godavarikhani.
Her marriage was arranged with one Rajesh, who runs a footwear supply business in Raghunathpally mandal of Jangaon district, with the acceptance of her and his relatives.
Alongside the Collector, MLA Ch. Vijayaramana Rao and District Welfare Officer D. Venu Gopal Rao, as well as other district officials, participated in performing the wedding rituals. They provided all the necessary items for the ceremony with the help of philanthropists, ensuring that Manasa wanted for nothing on her special day.
The TNGOs of Peddapalli district contributed ₹61,800 as a wedding gift for the newlywed couple.
DWO Venu Gopal Rao said that the government would always stand by orphans, providing them with the support and guidance. It is important to offer love and assistance to those in need so that they never feel alone. Rajesh and her parents agreed to support Manasa who has aspirations of preparing for Civil services exam, he added.
